PROGRAM
The Ilia State University (ISU) Medical Education Programme in Medicine was accredited on 4 July 2019 by the Accreditation Council of LEPL National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement (EQE). The latter has been awarded Recognition Status by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME). The Medical Programme is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS).
The goal of the ISU Medical Programme is to train qualified medical doctors ready to adopt cutting-edge approaches. It seeks to equip students with competences, knowledge and skills needed for responding tomorrow’s global challenges and remaining competitive both at local and international levels. Graduates will be able to continue their post-graduate studies, be employed as junior doctors and/or teachers.
Programme Objectives:
- Provide students with deep, practice-based knowledge taking into account contemporary challenges, trends, technological achievements and international standards.
- Equip students with the skills of a contemporary doctor through practice-based teaching, and encourage them to understand the principles of social responsibility and ethical values that are essential for practicing doctors.
- Encourage students to understand the principles and methods of social and behavioral sciences within a broader context of medical practice, realize the importance of public healthcare system and the role of a doctor within the system;
- Assist students in acquiring self-development skills and understanding the need of continuous improvement of their knowledge and skills.
